First Contact Signposting Scheme

Dear Customer

RE: First Contact Signposting Scheme.

I am writing to notify you that the Adult Social Care Committee decided this week that the First Contact Signposting Scheme will no longer continue after 30 September 2016.

This followed a review which found that other new services are now available to help support people who are at risk of deteriorating health and independence. The review also found that many of the services that were originally on the First Contact checklist were no longer available.
People can now find out about a range of services and support available at including social care support, voluntary agencies, befriending, groups and activities. Anyone without internet access can visit one of our libraries or customer contact points, or phone our Customer Service Centre on 0300 500 80 80, for help finding information on the website. PO Box 9320 Nottingham NG15 5BL.
Our Customer Service Centre can also signpost people to a range of information, advice and support.

The new Connect service also provides information, advice and short term support to people who might be struggling with keeping active or managing personal affairs, or who might be feeling lonely. This can include face to face support for vulnerable people. For details about Connect visit:

When you meet people through the course of your work who you think will benefit from these service options, it would be really beneficial if you could promote them and refer to the Connect service where appropriate.

Please can you ensure that any reference to First Contact is removed from your website or any publicity materials from 30 September.

Yours sincerely,

Lyn Farrow
